Rock Chic

For a while, I have been trying to gain the courage to put on bright red lipstick. Finally, TODAY is THE DAY....

Emma, from the Chanel Cosmetics had kindly selected the Red shade that would suit my complexion best. Red lipstick can either be Blue Red (Dark/Deep) or Orange Red (Bright). Above is the Chanel Rouge Allure Passion 14 (which is a combination of Dark & Orange Red). To apply red lipstick, it is best to line the lip with a liner first.

Emma had recommended Chanel Lip Liner in Rouge.

To create the Rock Chic look, I layered a selection of cultured pearl necklaces and a single crystal pendant (resembling the shape of a Maltese Cross) with Sterling Silver necklace.

then, put on a rocking chic top from New Look...

...and then, add on two fashion staples- A nice bag (Chanel Classic Flap in Large, Caviar & Silver Hardware) and a lovely pair of shoes (Valentino Garavani Shoes)

This pair of Valentino shoes is totally rocking cool. They are made of nude see-through netting (even the roses too!)

The end effect! For some reason (my poor photography skills), the red lips doesn't seems look that red in this picture.

My Beauty Diary

Today, I attended the 3rd session of the Clarin's Facial Spa (Advanced Facial). This was actually recommended by a friend's granny who is in her 70s but (seriously, OMG) at most, looks like in her early 50s. So, I thought I would give this a try. Each sessions costs £57 and lasts approx 1 hr 20 mins. Clarin's Spa at Debenhams was doing a promotion: Free 2 sessions when you purchase 5 sessions. (Thus, for 7 sessions, it costs £285 instead of £399). You can vary the type of advanced facial to suit according to your skin's condition. The following are the Advanced Facial options available:

Playing (Messing about) with Colours

Last night, I was trying to create a smokey eye effect with different shades of purple. It didn't turn out as what I had hoped (totally lacking the drama) for but anyway, it was worth a go....

I started off with the foundation for the face; Chanel Vitalumiere (10 Limpide) which is silky and hydrating for the face (ideal especially for winter months)

Next, the eye shadows (Chanel Vanites)- using the shimmery white as the base and to highlight the area just beneath the brows.

Chanel Eye Crayon and Liquid Eyeliner (both in black) to define the shape of the eyes

Shu uemura Eyelash Curler- THIS is the ultimate makeup kit. It practically grabs and curls each strand of eyelash. Bought this when I was on a vacation in Hong Kong about 2 years ago.

I am a big fan of Lancome's mascara- saw this on an advert, the new HYPNOSE DRAMA. Tried it last night - and YES, it really lengthens eyelashes.

As you can see, it does lengthen the eyelashes. (Photographed WITHOUT lash inserts)

I find that keeping the lip colour neutral helps to accentuate the beauty of the eyes and keeps the attention drawn to the eyes. For the base of the lips - Chanel 91 Positano (Nude-ish colour)

Wool & Cashmere

It's pretty frustrating during the chilly winter months as it can be so difficult to keep warm & cosy without looking like a total frump (Frumpy volunteer above)

At last, I found this Thomas Burberry by Burberry wool and cashmere coat (strictly speaking 70% wool, 10% cashmere, 20% polyamide) which is extremely warm AND it looks elegant.

I love this coat to bits- its detailings are so fine.... I like the gold zip edges lining the inside of the coat
